voestalpine Railway Systems GmbH is a leading global provider of system solutions for rail infrastructure. Thanks to the company s decades of experience and expertise in rail infrastructure, the concrete turnout sleepers are designed, optimized and further developed taking into account the entire railway superstructure. The concrete turnout sleepers are produced at the following three production facilities: TSFA GmbH, Sollenau (Austria), voestalpine Turnout Technology Germany GmbH, Butzbach (Germany) andTravertec S.R.L., Buzau (Romania). The product group of prestressed concrete turnout sleepers comprises different types of highquality turnout sleepers, which are optionally delivered with under sleeper pads and preassembled fastening systems. The declared products are prestressed concrete parts of different size and design for use as concrete turnout sleepers. The concrete turnout sleepers support and keep the rails and turnout components in the correct position and transfer the loads to the track superstructure. The concrete consists of • prestressed steel, • cement (hydraulic binder), • sand and gravel of different grain sizes (aggregates) • water and • admixtures and additives. Castin plastic parts of a dowel fastener form the anchor for attachingscrewing the rail fastening systems. Depending on the design of the fastening system, additional reinforcement elements such as end brackets or dowel reinforcements made of steel are required. A possible preassembly takes place in a separate work step within the plants and is not taken into account in this EPD. The basic geometry of the turnout sleeper can vary in height, width and design.
