EPD: EPS insulation board, L= 0.031 W/mK, R=1 m2K/W, 31 mm, 600 x 1200 mm, 0.51 kg/m2, 16.3 kg/m3, Lambda=0.031 W/(m.K), bewi super eps 80 denmark (BEWI ASA, Insulation and Construction)
BEWI Super EPS are boards made from expanded polystyrene EPS. Graphite is added to the raw material, which gives it the grey color and at the same time reduces radiant heat loss, thereby decreasing thermal conductivity by approximately 20 percentage compared to traditional white EPS, Jackopor Flamingo. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a common material used for thermal insulation of buildings, including floors, walls and roofs. It is a polymer foam, consisting of air-filled polystyrene cells. As 98 percentage of the material is air, EPS provides good insulating properties at a low weight. Other characteristics of the material include low moisture absorption, long service life, high compressive strength and 100 percent recyclable. EPS is manufactured through permeating polystyrene beads with pentane, allowing the beads to expand when exposed to steam. This addition of a so-called blowing agent adds 4 to 6 percentage. In BEWI Super EPS, graphite is added in small amounts to further improve thermal insulation properties.
