EPD: Hot rolled steel sheets and coils, 7850 kg/m3 (SSAB (2023))

SSAB specializes in materials for demanding applications where high strength and formability are needed for weight savings and increased durability. Hot rolled steels are used in many industries and applications, including the construction industry, automotive industry, heavy machinery, shipbuilding and other various metal structures. Hot rolled steel is also used as a raw material for further processing in the manufacture of cold rolled, metal coated and color coated coils and sheets as well as steel tube products. Hot rolled steels are made in the form of coils that can be slit or cut to length to sheets, in a thickness range of 1.8 – 25 mm at the Borlänge steel mill in Sweden or the Raahe steel mill in Finland. SSAB’s product portfolio of hot rolled steel sheets and coils consists of a wide selection of steel grades that, for example, range from the most advanced AHSS steels, including complex phase, martensitic and 3rd generation AHSS, as well as hardenable steels, down to conventional C-Mn and HSLA steels. The products are often customized to meet national and/or international standards as well as customer-specific or other Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. Besides standardized steel grades, SSAB’s hot rolled product portfolio also includes products unique to SSAB and which in some cases may be patented.
