EPD: Nylon carpet with dual polypropylene backing, 2.16 kg/m2, WELDLOK (Mowhawk Industries)

Weldlok is Durkans standardbroadloom backing system specifically designed for commercial applications. The Weldlok backing is laminated to our products utilizing a commercial thermoset adhesive. This adhesive is designed to encapsulate and penetrate the carpet back stitch in the main application coat, while the second application coat secures the secondary backing to the carpet substrate for a cost effective performance standard. As of 2022, all Durkan flooring products will be carbon neutral plus an additional 5%. Weldlok meets Durkan’s commitment to Beyond Carbon Neutral. This study covers all products and styles with tufted nylon face fiber on Weldlok backing, including standard tufted solution dyed yarns, precision-dye injection (PDI), and Definity/CYP. Due to a range of face weights offered with this product, an average face weight of 30 oz/yd2 (1017 g/m2) was used, which is the average of the annual sales. Unless noted in the report, the average face weight is presented for the impacts.
