EPD: Solid wood slab elements, 495 kg/m3, 13% moisture content (Rubner Holding)

Holzius solid wood slab elements (holzius-SWE) are used as solid wood walls, solid wood ceilings and solid wood roofs, especially in ecological solid wood construction and for single-family houses as well as for complex multi-story buildings. holzius-SWE, are produced as multilayer solid wood elements based on vertical oriented block-elements (squared timber), free from glue and metal. The single layers of the holzius-SWE consist of solid wood planks vertically aligned and are connected in plane by tongue and groove. The single layers are connected by dovetail-shaped wooden connectors. Due to the vertical arrangement holzius elements are free from settling. holzius solid wood ceiling and roof elements are made of parallel arranged squared timber, which interlock by tongue and groove and are connected by wooden screws in plane. The tongue-and-groove connection within holzius-SWE gives it airtightness without the need of additional foils. Exactly dimensioned free spaces between the squared timber components within the single layers of the holzius-SWE allows dimensional stability, independent from changes in humidity.
